"Flowers are symbolic of the three Triple Crown races. The famous blanket of Red Roses always adorns the winner of the Kentucky Derby, Black Eyed Susans for the Preakness and White Carnations for the winner of the Belmont. In this still-life, I have tried to create a painterly tribute to racing's grandest prize."
